Privacy Policy
We keep this simple because we think you should actually be able to read it. This policy explains what information VowchedMe collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it. If you have questions, email us anytime at info@vowchedme.com.
What We Collect
When you create an account and use VowchedMe, we collect:
- Your name, email address, and password
- Your professional information — job title, employer history, location, fields of expertise, and any bio you write
- The names and email addresses of people you invite to record a vowch for you
- Video recordings submitted by your vowchers on your behalf
- Basic usage data — which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and how you interact with the platform
- Your IP address and device type
- Payment information for Pro and Career Accelerator subscribers — processed securely through Stripe (we never see or store your full card number)
We do not collect your race, ethnicity, religion, health information, or any other sensitive personal categories.
Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display your public profile and Reputation Index Score
- Deliver vowch requests and store video vowches on your profile
- Process your subscription payment and send receipts
- Send you account notifications — new vowches, connection activity, and platform updates
- Send you occasional emails about new features or tips (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- Keep the platform secure and fix bugs
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to serve third-party ads.
Video Vowches and Biometric Data
This section matters. Please read it.
When someone records a video vowch for you, that video is stored on our platform and displayed on your public profile. The person recording the vowch consents to this when they submit it.
Video recordings may contain biometric data — specifically facial geometry. Texas law (and laws in several other states) requires us to tell you this explicitly and obtain your consent before collecting it.
By submitting or accepting a video vowch on VowchedMe, you consent to the collection and storage of any biometric data contained in that video solely for the purpose of providing our Services. We will not sell, lease, or profit from biometric data. We retain it only as long as your account is active or as required by law.
To remove a video vowch: vowchers can request removal by emailing info@vowchedme.com. Profile owners can remove any vowch from their account settings at any time. We will process removal requests within 30 days.
Who Sees Your Information
Your VowchedMe profile — including your name, professional background, Reputation Index Score, and pinned vowches — is public by default. That means anyone can see it, including employers and search engines.
You can make your profile private at any time in your account settings.
We share your information with a small number of trusted service providers who help us run the platform — including our cloud hosting provider, Stripe for payments, and our email delivery service. These providers are only allowed to use your data to provide services to us, not for any other purpose.
We may also disclose your information if required by law or to protect the safety and security of our users.
Your Choices
- Update your profile: log in and edit your account settings anytime
- Make your profile private: toggle visibility in account settings
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails: click “unsubscribe” in any email we send
- Delete your account: email info@vowchedme.com and we will delete your account and data within 30 days (some records may be retained longer where required by law)
- Request a copy of your data: email info@vowchedme.com
- Remove a video vowch: see Section 3 above
Payments
Pro and Career Accelerator subscriptions are billed through Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. VowchedMe never stores your full credit card number. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and restricted access controls. That said, no system is completely secure. If you ever notice something suspicious about your account, contact us immediately at info@vowchedme.com.
Children
VowchedMe is not for anyone under 18. If you believe a child under 18 has created an account, please email info@vowchedme.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email and post the updated version on our website with a new “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of VowchedMe after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
